So Many Good People in this world!

Handwritten hymns by Monks are stored in the Archives here with rows and rows and floors and floors and even winding steps into a Harry Potter type place made our visit so interesting.  Dr. Jorge spent two hours with us on Tuesday Feb. 15th and invited us back on Friday and we spent two more hours talking about genealogy.  Such a kind and interesting man!

Handwritten journals from many Portuguese speaking countries...

Director of the Evora Archives, Dr. Jorge Janeiro, was so kind to take us on a tour and explain what they are doing to save important records from the 14th to the 21st centuries. Just here in the District of Evora they store 4000 linear meters (or 2.4 miles) of documents in their archive.

We appreciate Pablo and Ana Quesada for their kindness in setting up the appointment for us.  It was so interesting to see how they take photos of documents (about 25,000 pages a day between the two of them.) Family Search work is a miracle happening all over the world in many ways!  Now we need Portuguese speakers who can read the records and index them so they will be accessible to families.

This past Thursday we were coming home from an appointment and met Antero and Fligencio (from left to right) from Guineu-Bissau and after visiting with them for a while, we invited them to church and gave them the address.  Before leaving we asked if they knew Vadinho (in the brown coat with the white shirt and tie in the photo) because he is also from Guineu-Bissau and is also in his master's program here. Although he is in medicene and they in accounting. They said they did not know him...HOWEVER, the very next day they began talking to a man near campus and when they asked his name, they met Vadinho!  They told him about meeting us just the evening before and Vadinho  told them they could walk to church together. (Grandpa and I do not believe in coincidences)  Thursday night he had emailed us that he wanted to help in the work!   You already know Djodjo and Djeison from Cabo Verde in the middle.  (After church they all wanted a photo with our new friends together) We learn alot from so many good people!!!

So, Friday, we met Augusto the man on the far right.  He is from Mosambique getting his master's degree in Geological Engineering.  He is also very bright and really knows his Bible, as missionaries it is sooooo fun to talk to him as well.  He wanted to visit on Saturday and we are happy when we can share with fellow Christians our love for our Savior. Imagine our joy when he came to church yesterday with his smile. ... will continue next week...Remember that you are in our prayers every single day! with great Love, Grandpa and Grandma
