Families and Forever!


We love you and thank you for the photos, videos, and visits this week during our family reunion.  Although never a secret since your first baby breath against my cheek, but our hearts find that the love we have for each of you continues to grow and again, we find our greatest joy and treasure in family. Thank you for being Wonderful!  We missed those who could not attend this time, but so glad for those who could... and thankful for the technology that makes so very far away seem a tiny bit closer. 


Because we love the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we want to tell the whole world about Heavenly Father's Plan for Families!  We spent time at the Archives in Moura this week trying to find ancestor information for a family in Evora.  


Our friend, Paula, helped me with my Relief Society lesson by printing copies of Elder Uchtdorf's conference talk for the sisters.  She came to church with us also; it was so nice to have her there.  




Julia Abreu lives next door and in the back with her husband and she takes care of the home in front and above her apartment.  She waves to us as we come and go and we were happy to mark a time to go to her home instead of just visit over the fence.  We talked about the Restoration of The Gospel with her and showed her the promise that Moroni gave as we gifted her a Book of Mormon.  She was so gracious.  She reminded us that her husband, Joao is an Evangelico Minister.  We shared with her that there have been other ministers, pastors, and others, who even use the Book of Mormon in their Sermons once they read it for themselves, as it testfies of Jesus and was written by Prophets just like the Bible. How wonderful to have more testimonies! 


So sweet to teach families and invite them to church and so sad when they don't come...but I always look at the door to see if maybe they could get off work or just maybe they will come a little bit late.




Lots of visits, meetings, and lots of looking for heart prepared families so we can share the 
great news that Jesus' Church is restored to the earth! So many don't even know that it happened.  


I love the quiet moments when we can just study and learn.  
Such a blessing to have the Scriptures in our homes.  We Love YOU!

What Joy to hear an Apostle this past weekend as Elder and Sister Neil L. Andersen came to share their hearts in Cape Verde and to dedicate the Cape Verde Temple in Praia.  President and Sister Roberto Oliveira, serving as the President and Directora of the New Cape Verde Temple invited us to attend the dedication and to stay in their home with them for 3 marvelous  days that will last in our hearts forever.  What an experience to see some of the behind the scenes preparations  and wonderment of the Miracle of a Temple in Cabo Verde.  President and Sister Oliveira are much loved by the Cabo Verdianos and as we walked with them we saw that they are much loved by the woman doing laundry, a man in the store, the apartment security guy, the scheduler at the Temple, and everyone in their path...including us. Such Joy to visit with them again!  They treat us like royalty.  We laugh and cry together...as family and best friends. So many of our young frie...

Tender Mercies and Miracles

Sunday morning in Ponta Delgada, when Grandpa learned that he was to teach the Gospel Doctrine class in Sunday School (RIGHT NOW!) he quickly stood up and gave a wonderful lesson.  So many participated as we felt the words in the Thirteen Article of Faith and what they mean in our lives.  I wondered at the composure he had as the lesson unfolded beautifully as if he had been preparing all week.  And then the thought came to me...that he had.  As we study the scriptures daily, and try our best to understand and apply them...we are prepared to share our joy anytime, anywhere. ...and then on the very same Sunday afternoon, after Sacrament meeting, and just as Sunday School was about to start in Ribera Grande (other part of the island), Maura, came over to give me a hug.  She wanted me to teach Primary.  What?  And I followed her into the Primary room and with chalk, markers, and scriptures we had a nice visit together.  We talked about the promises t...
